2017 Complete List of New Hotel Openings in Singapore
As 2016 comes to a close, it is interesting to review which properties that was scheduled for a 2016 opening is still on the 2017 list. Fueled by the same curiosity, I have put together a list of hotels which will help you answer the burning question in your head: how many new hotels are opening in Singapore in 2017?
HOTELS THAT OPENED IN 2017 (SINGAPORE)
1. JW Marriott Hotel Singapore South Beach
30 Beach Road, Singapore 189763
Since the acquisition of The South Beach, Marriott has been working hard to ensure that the property is in line with the JW Marriott brand standards. In December 2016 (yes, I know it isn't 2017), the JW Marriott Hotel Singapore South Beach will be official unveiled to the public. While the current website still shows the old room design, I am seriously hoping they would make some appropriate changes in time to come.

2. The Warehouse Hotel
320 Havelock Road, Singapore 169628
Here's an exciting one - if you have stayed at the beautiful M Social Singapore, you would have noticed The Warehouse Hotel which is located on the other side of the river. Built in 1895, The Warehouse Hotel stands in the very same spot where secret societies and underground activities were once abound in Singapore. The Warehouse Hotel will feature only 37 beautifully-appointed rooms and all the rooms will have access to complimentary high speed WiFi, Bang & Olufsen Bluetooth speakers, custom pillow top mattresses, 100% eco-certified Ashley & Co bath amenities, a fully stocked minibar, and access to the rooftop infinity pool which I am personally dying to see. The hotel officially opens in December 2016 but they are taking reservations from January 2017.

Located in the most fashionable shopping destination in Singapore, Ascott Orchard will offer guests an exclusive and smart living experience. The premium serviced residence is well suited for expatriates, business travellers and tourists as it is a few minutes’ walk from Orchard as well as Somerset Mass Rapid Transit stations with easy access to the Central Business District, world-class shopping malls and premium medical facilities. Ascott Orchard Singapore is linked to Paragon shopping mall through a covered bridge and is part of CapitaLand’s landmark integrated development that also comprises a high-end residential development. 4. Hilton Garden Inn Singapore Serangoon
3 Belilios Road, Singapore, 219924
Chanced upon this property a couple of nights back when I was random searching for a staycation opportunity in Singapore. This newly-branded property will takeover the existing Hotel Grand Chancellor but will feature refurbished and redesigned rooms that will be in line with the Hilton Garden Inn brand standards - will this property be the answer to keeping your Hilton HHonors Diamond status for cheap(er)?

5. Park Hotel Farrer Park
10 Farrer Park Station Road. Singapore 217564
Last on the list (for now at least!) is the Park Hotel Farrer Park which I thought was supposed to open in 2016. Farrer Park is a challenging area and the One Farrer Hotel & Spa is definitely feeling it. Located on top of the Farrer Park MRT Station, Park Hotel Farrer Park is Park Hotel Group's fifth property in Singapore. The hotel is located in the vibrant shopping and entertainment district of Little India with the famous 24-hour Mustafa Centre, Tekka Centre, and The Verge, all located within walking distance. For convenience, the new hotel will also be connected through an underground pedestrian walkway to City Square Mall, Singapore’s first eco-mall.

Singapore's first Oakwood Premier property will be unveiled in one of the city's most highly-anticipated buildings in the CBD, the OUE Downtown. HOTELS THAT ARE OPENING IN 2017 (SINGAPORE)
1. Sofitel Singapore City Centre - September 2017
9 Wallich Street, Singapore 078885
Another Sofitel in Singapore you say? The Sofitel Singapore City Centre will be Singapore's third branded Sofitel in the city even though I am not sure if it will beat the amazing Sofitel Sentosa Resort & Spa. Housed in Singapore's soon-to-be-tallest building which will stand at 290m, the brand new Sofitel Singapore City Centre with 222 rooms will be part of a multi-billion dollar project known as Tanjong Pagar Centre which is expected to redefine mixed-use developments in Singapore. Hotel guests can relax in the outdoor 30m swimming pool or work out at the Virgin Active Gym, which offers world class fitness facilities.

2. Andaz Singapore - Q3 2017
5 Fraser Street, Singapore 189354
If you know me well enough, you must know that the Andaz Singapore is the most exciting new hotel opening in Singapore for me. I am a huge fan of the Hyatt brand (even though they have just introduced a rather undesirable change to the loyalty program lately) and I am just super excited to see how the Andaz property would look like in Singapore. Since I am super excited about this property, let me share some fun facts about the Andaz brand - yes in case you do not know this already, Andaz is one of Hyatt's premium brand (it sits above the Grand Hyatt brand) and the name essentially means 'unique style' in Urdu (a Hindustani language). This luxury-boutique brand was first introduced in 2007 and have ever since been impressing travellers (like me!) from all over the world - check out the Andaz Tokyo and Andaz 5th Avenue!

3. InterContinental Singapore Robertson Quay - Q3, 2017
1 Nanson Road, Singapore 238909
Singapore is getting her second InterContinental-branded property this year. The InterContinental Singapore Robertson Quay is set on the waterfront in a distinct area that is close enough to all the famous Singapore landmarks but yet isolated enough to offer a unique experience for travellers seeking a alternative luxury experience. The hotel is slated to feature the latest in Club InterContinental design with the same level of attentive service but a much more modern look (as compared to the InterContinental Singapore which offers a heritage look and feel). If I had to pick a second property that I am most excited about, this has to be it!

4. Courtyard by Marriott Singapore Novena - Late September 2017
264 Thomson Rd, Singapore 307643
The brand new Courtyard by Marriott Singapore Novena will occupy the 22nd to 33rd floor of the Royal Square @ Novena which is a mixed-used development building which is directly linked to the Novena MRT Station. The property is located just 25-minutes drive away from Changi Airport by car and the stylish guestrooms here feature full-length bay windows that offer panoramic views of both the city as well as nature reserve. Indulge in the hotel's all-day dining restaurant, Sky22, lay back at the Lobby Lounge and enjoy cocktails with a view to boot at the Urbana Rooftop Bar located on Level 33.

5. The Duxton Club, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Singapore - November 2017
83 Duxton Road, Singapore 89540
We got our first Tribute Portfolio hotel in Singapore recently and now we are finally getting our very first Luxury Collection Hotel as well - The Duxton Club. Housed in one of Singapore architectural heritage conservation district, The Duxton Club offers guests a unique and luxurious experience in two pre-war colonial shophouse buildings which are both within walking distance from one another. The Duxton House and The Duxton Terrace (yes, they are both ONE hotel in case you are confused) are adjacent to the CBD area of Tanjong Pagar is slated to open early 2017 (The Duxton House first and The Duxton Terrace in July 2017). The Duxton House will feature 50 guestrooms and upon completion, the hotel will include a destination restaurant, signature bar and private cigar room – all offering refined experiences for discerning guests seeking authentic, indigenous experience deeply rooted in the destination.
6. YOTEL Singapore, Orchard Road - November 2017
360 Orchard Road, Singapore 238869
You must have seen this sign up each time you shop along Orchard Road - since I frequent the Hilton Singapore and Pan Pacific Orchard quite a bit, I always pass by this area when I walk to the more happening side of town. First things first, what exactly is YOTEL? For those of us who do not live in New York, London or even Amsterdam, we probably have not heard much about the brand. With a little googling, I found out that the YOTEL concept is basically technological innovation - in fact, they pride themselves in offering affordable luxury! Could this brand be an introduction to the changing landscape of the hospitality industry (especially with CitizenM entering Taipei)?
7. Novotel Singapore on Stevens - December 2017
30 Stevens Road, Singapore 257840
Located approximately 20 minutes from Changi Airport and just a short stroll away from Stevens MRT Station, the brand new Novotel Singapore on Stevens is just minutes away from the famous shopping belt, Orchard Road. Expect to find a 35 meter infinity pool (as well as a pool bar!) for all guests to enjoy here.

8. Mercure Singapore on Stevens - December 2017
30 Stevens Road, Singapore 257840
While the initial plan was to make this the ibis Singapore on Stevens, Oxley's maiden venture into the hospitality business will see a brand new Mercure-branded property on Stevens Road instead.

9. The Patina, Capitol Singapore - 2017
15 Stamford Road, Singapore 178906
Everyone knows about The Patina, Capitol Singapore but yet at the same time, no one knows anything about it. When the Capitol Piazza first opened, Singaporeans were excited - we had our first Dazzling Cafe (from Taiwan), a fancy food court that utilised iPads for ordering food (I hear they have removed this now) and even a spot To Be Calm but how many times have we hear about the delay to the hotel's grand opening? Countless. I do want to see the insides of The Patina in Singapore - it is also under the Leading Hotels of the World program in case anyone is interested - but it has been way too long and my interest is slowly dwindling.
