SG50 Homemade Sambals at the Pan Pacific Singapore
Singaporeans love their chili and every true blue Singaporean will be able to explain to you the difference between the contrasting kinds of chilies that are used in different dishes. The Pacific Marketplace (located within the Pan Pacific Singapore) will be presenting five different handcrafted sambals in commemoration of Singapore's Golden Jubilee this year.
The special collection of five sambals is available at the Pacific Marketplace from 01 June to 31 August 2015 for S$50 nett and it comes with the following five varieties:
- Sambal Tumis with Honey Mango
Stir-fried with belachan, shrimps and tamarind skin, the paste is then blended with Honey Mango resulting.
- Red Sambal Belado
A fiery blend featuring red chilli padi mixed with fresh tomatoes and kaffir lime leaves.
- Salted Fish Sambal
Preserved mackerel and belachan are first sautéed with garlic, and the divine blend is then pounded with fresh red chilli with a pestle and mortar.
- Kampong Sambal
Fresh green chillies and green chilli padi. Infused with a generous serving of Ikan Bilis (dried anchovies),
- Sambal Belachan with Thai Basil and Pineapple
Chopped pineapple and basil leaves are pounded to extract their juices, and then mixed with the fragrant Sambal Belachan.
