While shopping for hotel room nights (yes, I actually do that!), I realised that the Conrad Centennial Singapore has a HHonors Discount room rate listed - upon closer inspection, this room rate offers the same cancellation policy as the Easy Cancellation rate but it comes with a 10% discount - not bad at all! Strangely enough, I do not see an Advance Purchase (non-cancellable) rate so hopefully this is not a direction that the hotel (or brand) is moving towards.
I am not too sure if this is a rate error on the Conrad Centennial Singapore or not but I will definitely monitor and report back. Also, it seems like the refurbishment plans at the property has been put on hold until further notice! Brian Cohen from The Gate has also noted that the discount rate varies from the number of days prior to arrival:
- Two percent for reservations booked within 14 days of arrival, for stays seven days per week
- Three percent for reservations booked 15 days or greater prior to arrival, for stays Sunday through Thursday — or Saturday through Wednesday at hotel and resort properties in the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Oman, Yemen, Egypt and Jordan
- Ten percent for reservations booked 15 days or greater prior to arrival, for stays Friday through Saturday — or Thursday through Friday at hotel and resort properties in the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Oman, Yemen, Egypt and Jordan
Now that we have gotten over the fact that UOB and Singapore Airlines have launched a brand new co-branded credit card (which you should definitely apply if you do not mind getting your bonus miles next year), Singapore Airlines has just unveiled a brand new website which enables passengers to look for the cheapest fares easily if their travel dates are flexible.
The Platinum Card from American Express offers plenty of benefits and with the recent inclusion of Singapore Airlines in the International Airline Programme (IAP), this card has gotten a lot more useful for me since I can now book Business Class flights at a significant discount (and still earn miles/PPS Value from them)! If you have been on the fence about this charge card, check out my previous article on how I actually rationalised paying for the S$1,712 annual fee.
The new KrisFlyer UOB Credit Card looks great but the only caveat is this - all the 'Accelerated Miles' will only post AFTER your card's membership year. This means to say that you will only expect to see your bonus miles next year!
While the rest of Singapore is excited over the brand new KrisFlyer UOB Credit Card (which offers a stunning 3 KrisFlyer miles per dollar on dining and other categories), Grab has announced and introduced four new service tiles to the Grab app to cater to Southeast Asians’ everyday needs. You will notice that some of these tiles are already available on your app but some of the functionalities are only expected to roll out in coming months.
Singapore Airlines and UOB have just announced a brand new credit card which offers an attractive earn rate of 3 KrisFlyer miles per dollar on Singapore Airlines (including SilkAir and Scoot) expenses, online shopping, transport and most importantly, dining. The brand new KrisFlyer UOB Credit Card is now available for application online and you can do it very quickly (takes just a minute!) if you have internet banking set up with UOB.
When I wrote about the changes to the International Airline Programme for American Express Platinum Members earlier today, I did not expect the savings to be drastic. If you have not seen that article, Singapore Airlines and Qatar Airways have essentially joined the IAP and American Express Centurion as well as Platinum Members now have access to discounted Business Class and First Class fares (that is not publicly available).
The Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore will be unveiling the inaugural GastroFest on 05 May 2019 (Sunday) and it will run from 12:30PM to 5:00PM. This one-day only event will bring together an elaborate and thoughtfully-curated line-up of culinary delights and a host of exciting activities.
One of the perks of the American Express Platinum Card that do not get talked about very often is the International Airline Program (IAP). When I rationalised paying the S$1,712 annual fee for The Platinum Card late last year, I noticed that the Business Flex rate for an Emirates flight costed approximately 11.5% lower than the publicly available rate. Today, a number of changes to the IAP have been implemented for The Platinum Card by American Express.
American Express Platinum Members in Singapore can now book Fine Hotels & Resorts rates online - get instant confirmation on luxury properties!
