Following a development agreement between Marriott International and the Eastern Crown Hotels group, the plan to bring 140 hotels in to the country has been cemented. The introduction of Fairfield by Marriott will see the brand's expansion into the mid-scale hotel segment in China and each property is expected to have a room inventory of 100 to 150.
As a global leader of the mid-tier hotel segment, Fairfield by Marriott is the brand's second largest distributed brand with over 750 hotels globally. There are currently six Marriott brands in China with three more signed and scheduled to join - Autograph Collection Hotels, Edition, and BVLGARI Hotels & Resorts. Fairfield by Marriott will be the tenth brand to join the portfolio.
The first ever Swissôtel Hotels and Resorts property in Indonesia is set to make its first debut in the city of Jakarta. Slated to open in mid-2019, the Swissôtel Jakarta PIK Avenue will be located in a mixed-used lifestyle mall complex. The Hyatt Regency Hangzhou is expected to be re-branded to Grand Hyatt Hangzhou on 18 December 2018. Following 18 months of intensive renovations, the hotel will become the first Grand Hyatt hotel in the Zhejiang Province and the 15th in Greater China.
