It is no secret that I love my American Express Platinum Card- the S$1,712 annual fee may put most people off but the perks are amazing and if you do enjoy traveling in style, these benefits will essentially offset the annual fee very easily (especially in the first year). One thing that American Express does very well is the American Express Offers that cardholders can sign-up for - this morning, I noticed that American Express Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer Credit Card members can now earn 4 bonus KrisFlyer Miles for every S$1 spent on RedMart (registration is necessary) - the bonus miles are capped at 1,600 KrisFlyer miles per Card and the offer is limited to the first 15,000 eligible Cards which are successfully registered for the offer.
According to the wording in the terms and conditions, I would expect for the 4 bonus KrisFlyer miles to be issued on top of the base earn rate of 1.1 KrisFlyer miles. Therefore, you could potentially earn 5.1 KrisFlyer miles per dollar on up to S$400 that you spend on RedMart from now until 31 March 2019. There is also a similar offer on my American Express Platinum Card which offers 6 bonus Membership Rewards points per S$1 spent on RedMart after registering for the offer - spending S$400 on RedMart should get you 500 Membership Rewards points (base earn rate) and 2,400 bonus Membership Rewards Points via this offer. 2,900 Membership Rewards points can potentially convert into 1,812 miles so you are actually better off with the American Express Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer Credit Card if you are interested in KrisFlyer Miles. However, with that being said, do keep in mind that Membership Rewards points are more valuable since it converts into a range of other FFPs and there is sometimes a bonus associated to these conversions.
