Luxury Hotel Reviews in Singapore (over 60!) now on Google Maps for Easy Reference - Perfect for Staycations and Business Travel
Nothing much has changed since 2013 when I first started The Shutterwhale as a hobby - it is still something I do on the side (I have a day job in a management consultancy) and at least 90% of my room nights in hotels each year are paid for by myself. I have been actively turning-down invites (unless it is a pre-opening preview) but in the event that I do accept a media stay from a property, I make it a point to label this clearly on the post. Over the last couple of years, I have stayed at over 70 hotels in Singapore (many of which I have stayed multiple times) and I have reviewed at least 60 of them extensively on the website. Today, I am officially releasing a link to access these hotel reviews via Google Maps - you will be able to see most of my hotel reviews in Singapore and then click-through to the full-length review if interested.

While I am still thinking of a way to categorise the hotel reviews (possibly by price), I wanted to share a link to allow staycation-goers and business travellers to look up a property quicker. Over the years, I have received numerous feedback and even though, you can access all my hotel reviews on the website, the search feature is rather limited and it is sometimes difficult to navigate through the page. As much as this is a hobby for me, I would love to receive more feedback regarding the organisation of the website and you can always reach me via email for suggestions.
The Park Hyatt Auckland is quite possibly the nicest luxury hotel in Auckland with stunning rooms and suites, but the soft product needs some work.
While the compact rooms may not be ideal for those traveling with children, the Mercure Singapore Bugis is an excellent choice for travelers seeking an affordable and conveniently located hotel in Singapore, thanks to its prime location and competitive room rates.
The Le Méridien Seoul, Myeongdong has probably the best location in Seoul with a decent Club Lounge experience for elite members.
The Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara offers an excellent Club Millésime experience with comfortable rooms and well-maintained facilities, catering to both business and leisure travelers. The newly-opened Pavilion Damansara Heights Mall adds a variety of dining and entertainment options nearby, perfect for those who prefer not to venture too far from the hotel.
The Silveri Hong Kong provides an excellent stay experience for those needing proximity to HKIA, but it's not ideal for visitors exploring the city.
The Athenee Hotel in Bangkok provides good value with its third-night free offers, but the hard product falls short of expectations. While the service is generally excellent, there are better-located Marriott properties that offer more value for your money.
The prime location of the Hyatt Centric Ginza Tokyo is a major highlight, offering easy access to three Tokyo Metro lines. While the hotel has a solid F&B experience, the high room rates make this an expensive choice on longer stays.
The Conrad Singapore Orchard reopened in late December 2023 after extensive renovations, offering modern amenities in its newly-renovated rooms and suites. Despite initial doubts, the property's updated facilities and convenient location near Orchard Road make it a preferred choice over Conrad Centennial Singapore for future stays.
The JW Marriott Auckland is still refurbishing its guest rooms and suites (with an expected completion date in November 2024). I stayed in a Deluxe Room (non-refurbished) and have found the experience to be lacking of a typical JW Marriott property.
Used one of my Nightly Upgrade Awards (NUAs) at the W Osaka to secure a beautiful Marvelous Suite. The hotel is located on Midosuki Boulevard and within walking distance to Shinsaibashi and Dotonbori.
