Grab Unveils New GrabRewards Platform - High Value Rewards, No Expiry on Points and New Challenges to Complete

Grab has just unveiled some changes to the GrabRewards Platform - members will now be able to select from a larger catalogue of items (for redemption), enjoy no expiry date on points (so long 1 Grab transaction is made every 6 months), take on Challenges to unlock more reward and enjoy exclusive travel benefits as well as offset transactions (fully or partially) with points.

1. GrabRewards Points will no longer Expire

Starting from 01 July 2019, GrabRewards points will no longest expire so long you make at least one Grab transaction within 6 months from the last transaction (which is extremely reasonable). Remember Grab transactions include making payment (via GrabPay) to a participating merchant so there is really zero reason why you should have difficulty keeping your account active. Just to be absolutely clear, Grab transactions in this case include GrabCar, GrabShare, GrabFood as well as GrabPay.

2. Larger Catalogue for Points Redemption - Yes, even an Apple Watch and Samsung Galaxy S10e 128GB!

Recognising that different Grab users have different motivations, Grab has now made it possible to use your GrabRewards Points for a range of different items. At the time of writing, members may use their points for the Samsung Galaxy S10e 128GB and the Apple Watch Nike+ Series 4 for 490,000 and 300,000 GrabRewards Points respectively. Yes, your eyes are not playing tricks on you - in order to receive 490,000 and 300,000 points, you will be required to spend at least S$49,000 and S$30,000 respectively (in the case of GrabPay in-store and online). If you only use your Grab account for Grab rides and food delivery, be expected to spend S$81,667 and S$50,000 for the aforementioned items if you are a Platinum member.

3. Accept and Complete Challenges to Unlock Rewards

It is now possible to accept and activate challenges within the Grab app for a chance to pick up some additional points or perks along the way. At the time of writing, users can simply click on this link to be enrolled into the 'Amateur Champion' challenge - completing 3 non-promo GrabFood orders (minimum spend of S$15 required) will give me a S$3 off GrabFood voucher which is not exactly attractive in my opinion. These time-sensitive challenges also have a cap to the number of rewards left so make sure you get in quick!

4. Travel Benefits and Points Offset

These benefits are not exactly new and they have already been enabled for months but you can essentially use your GrabRewards Points for things like airport lounge access - you should really consider credit cards that will give you complimentary lounge access instead.
