Get 25% Discount on World of Hyatt Point Purchases (Great for Peak Season Redemption Stays!) - by 29 February 2020

You can now purchase World of Hyatt Points at a 25% discount if you do so before 11:59 PM ET on 29 February 2020. As always, I only recommend buying points if you have an immediate use for it - you should also think about locking in your redemption stays before 01 March 2020 since that is when peak and off-peak pricing in the World of Hyatt loyalty program will be introduced.

In order to unlock the 25% discount, you will have to purchase at least 5,000 points in a single transaction but do note that all World of Hyatt members are only able to purchase up to 55,000 points per calendar year. The maximum discount that I have seen in recent years is 40% so if you do not have immediate use for these points, it may be a good idea to wait it out (and hope for a better offer).

As mentioned earlier, it is a good idea to lock in your redemption stays prior to March 2020 as that is when peak (as well as off-peak pricing) will be introduced. If your redeemed night works out to be an off-peak date on the date of implementation, the difference in the number of required World of Hyatt pointswill be refunded back into your account. If the redeemed night works out to be a peak date, then you will keep the lower standard rate that you have booked at - it is really a win-win situation for you.

World of Hyatt Points are great when you redeem them for cash-expensive properties during peak seasons. For example, a Regency Club Room at the Hyatt Regency Tokyo which I have stayed at a number of times can go up to JPY 80,000 (approx. S$1,000) a night - this will only cost you 17,000 World of Hyatt Points (USD 306 or S$417) if you were to purchase it today. If you are based in Singapore, using the OCBC 90°N Card for this promotion will give you 4 miles per dollar on purchases with no cap and no limit so that is the card I would recommend you spend on if you wish to clock up additional miles with this expense.
