Hyatt to Postpone Peak and Off-Peak Pricing and Hotel Category Changes Until 2021

Back in December 2019, it was decided that Hyatt will be implementing off-peak (from 3,500 points) and peak pricing (from 6,500 points) from 22 March 2020. In view of the Covid-19 pandemic, Hyatt will be postponing the introduction of off-peak and peak point redemption until 2021. Free-night redemption stays will continue to be at the standard rate for the rest of the year and members in Asia-Pacific should have already seen an extension to their elite statuses for the year ahead.

Hyatt has also included a few more waiver and free-cancellation policies for the month ahead which you can check out on this page. Special exceptions are also in place for all Advance Purchase (non-refundable) rates made on or before 08 March 2020 for arrivals before 30 June 2020 - guests holding these reservations can opt to receive 10,000 World of Hyatt Bonus Points compensation if they choose not to travel. The statement put out by Hyatt now mentions that award category changes will be delayed until 2021 as well.

It is certainly nice to see the leading hotel chains and their respective loyalty programs adapting to changes in the market. IHG Rewards Club has already announced a relaxed requirement for qualification and re-qualification of status in the year ahead and most major programs are excepted to do the same in weeks to come.
