The Perfect Status for Staycations - DISCOVERY Black

I have written about the DISCOVERY Loyalty Program by the Global Hotel Alliance (GHA) on multiple occasions. Personally, I have completed at least 30 stays at the Pan Pacific Singapore and the Pan Pacific Orchard in the last two years. Within Singapore, the DISCOVERY program is one of my personal favourites as it offers everything important for a perfect staycation - especially when you reach top-tier with the program after 30 eligible nights!

Hotel Review: Pan Pacific Singapore (Pacific Harbour Studio)

I spent the Christmas Eve of 2015 at the Pan Pacific Singapore (the Mandarin Oriental, Singapore in 2014 and the Hilton Singapore in 2013) as part of my personal tradition. Since I wanted to take full advantage of my expiring Black status with the DISCOVERY Loyalty status then, I deliberately booked the Pacific Club room and enjoyed a two category upgrade (as per Black benefits) into the Pacific Harbour Studio (one that I have been dying to check out!) for Christmas Eve.

Save at least 10% with DISCOVERY Membership across GHA Brands

If like me, you enjoy staying at the Pan Pacific and PARKROYAL hotels on weekends (or even when you are traveling for leisure and business), you should definitely consider getting the DISCOVERY Membership. While I have initially bade farewell to my DISCOVERY Black Status, I also wrote about the opportunity to win it back. The most important point however is that the DISCOVERY Membership gives you at least 10% off the published rates online - this includes breakfast-inclusive rates!

Win Black Status (Highest Tier!) with DISCOVERY Programme

As I bid farewell to my Black Status with the Global Hotel Alliance's DISCOVERY programme last year,  I was a little sad - partly because I stay with the Pan Pacific chain so much in Singapore and that double upgrade (which worked on at least 20 of my stays) as well as that 6PM late check-out were all so valuable. When I logged in my DISCOVERY account (they have a really sleek app now too!) this morning, I saw that they were running a Scavenger Hunt where you will have the chance to win an instant upgrade to Black status along with a Black level Local Experience award.

A Farewell to Global Hotel Alliance (GHA) Black

I really loved my GHA Black benefits and you used to be able to early qualifying nights even on OTA rates but ever since 2015, you were only able to earn eligible nights when you book directly with the hotel - I have had issues when I booked via GHA itself too (strange!). Upgrade successes were always high and checking-out late is always a breeze (unless at full occupancy of course) but unfortunately, I was not able to hit 30 eligible nights this year so I will be back at Platinum next year which isn't too shabby after all.
