While SingSaver does offer cash bonuses of S$200 to S$250 at times, S$300 is definitely the highest by far so this is an excellent opportunity to get a handsome reward alongside your new credit card. If you are new to Citibank, there are four different credit cards that you may apply for to receive the S$300 cash bonus (do note that the bonus will only apply for your first card as a new customer).

Citi Rewards Card - Perfect for Grab Rides and Shopping (4 Miles per Dollar!)

The Citi Rewards Card is one the few credit cards in Singapore that will give you an amazing 4 miles per dollar on a few categories of spend. The Citi Rewards Card gives you 10X Rewards (equivalent to 4 miles per dollar) on all eligible online transactions as well as retail (offline) purchases (capped at S$1,000 each month) made across various local and international merchants. If you have been hearing much about the GrabPay Mastercard, the Citi Rewards Card allows you to (unofficially) earn 4 miles per dollar up to the first S$1,000 that you put to your GrabPay balance each month (by statement period). Additionally, spend S$3,000 within 3 months (from the date of approval) to receive 27,000 bonus points (10,800 miles) on top of your usual earn rate!

This card also comes with unlimited Priority Pass access (+1 guest) for the main cardholder so you do not have to worry about maxing out your visits ever.

Citi Cash Back Card - For the Lazy Singaporean “Who Prefers Cashback”

While I do not personally subscribe to using a cashback card (since miles cards allow me to travel in First Class and Business Class for free), the Citi Cash Back Card is fairly decent where cashback cards go. By simply charging at least S$888 in retail spend each month, you will be able to unlock 7.75% bonus cash back on Dining, Groceries, and Petrol spend on top of the 0.25% base cashback on all other retail spend - this means that you will be able to earn up to 8% cashback on these bonus categories each month.

The bonus 7.75% cashback is capped at S$25 in each category per statement month. This means that if you do charge S$888 in retail spend to your Citi Cash Back Card each month, you will be able to earn 8% cashback on the first S$322.58 charged within each one of the three distinct bonus categories. Since the base cashback of 0.25% which you earn outside of the bonus categories is extremely unattractive, you should try to make up as much of the S$888 minimum spend across the three bonus categories (since that gives you 8% cashback instead).

  • Dining Expenses - S$300 (S$24 Cashback)

  • Groceries - S$300 (S$24 Cashback)

  • Petrol - S$300 (S$24 Cashback)

  • Total Spend = S$900 (minimum spend of S$888 met)

  • Total Cashback (Base + Bonus) = S$72 (S$2.25 + S$69.75)

  • Effective Cashback = 8%

However, if you spend in only one out of the three categories, your effective cashback will be a lot lower as the maximum cashback per category is capped at S$25.

  • Dining Expenses - S$900 (S$27.25 Cashback)

  • Groceries - S$0

  • Petrol - S$0

  • Total Spend = S$900 (minimum spend of S$888 met)

  • Total Cashback (Base + Bonus) = S$27.25 (S$2.25 + S$25)

  • Effective Cashback = 3.03%
