Leave it to American Express to come up with the most interesting promotions - holders of The Platinum Card (not the credit card version) can now receive 8,000 Membership Rewards (MR) points (equivalent to 5,000 miles) easily when they share their favourite Platinum moment on Instagram between 28 June 2019 and 31 July 2019.

In order to benefit from 8,000 bonus MR Points, you will have to complete the following during the promotion period (which means you probably can't use an older photo):
Snap a photo of your Platinum Card in your favourite setting.
Share the photo on Instagram with #AmexPlatinum hashtag.
Email a screenshot of your Instagram post to theplatinumcard@aexp.com with your name and Card number.
Receive 8,000 Membership Rewards points in your account within 6 weeks after Promotion Period.

It is unclear at the time of writing as to whether or not supplementary cardholders of The Platinum Card can take part in this promotion too but I will certainly update this once I gain some clarity on this matter.
American Express Singapore has announced a significant devaluation to the Membership Rewards programme effective 23 February 2026. Transfers to major airline partners like Singapore Airlines and Cathay Pacific will require 25% more points, while transfers to Emirates will require 50% more. A temporary foreign currency spending bonus for Platinum Card members has also been announced.
