American Express to Hold (Virtual) Platinum af'FAIR 2021 for Centurion and Platinum Card Members - 20,000 Points for Picnic Hamper, Wine and Virtual Concert

In light of the current COVID-19 situation in Singapore, American Express has once again made the decision to hold the annual Platinum af'FAIR 2021 virtually on 31 October 2021 (Sunday). This is the second year that the Platinum af'FAIR is held online and Centurion, as well as Platinum Members, who opt to participate in this event will have to self-collect the exclusive picnic hamper through a drive-through at the Gillman Barracks.

There are two tiers of participation for Platinum Members who wish to take part in the American Express Platinum af'FAIR 2021 this year:

• Picnic Plush at 20,000 Membership Rewards points

• Concert Culture at 5,000 Membership Rewards points

The Picnic Plush offers the most comprehensive experience which comes with an exclusively designed and curated picnic for two (including four appetisers, two mains, as well as a dessert platter). You will also receive a bottle of 2015 La Fleur de Boüard (which is priced at approximately S$80 on Millésima), two bottles of craft beers, two bottles of cold-pressed juices, two bottles of cold-brew coffee & tea, as well as Evian water. The Picnic Plush experience requires 20,000 Membership Rewards points (12,500 miles) which are worth approximately S$200 if you were to value miles at 1.6 cpm. If you are not interested in miles, 20,000 MR Points are worth S$96 (using a valuation of 1,000 MR Points = S$4.80) at the very least.

There are four different Picnic Basket types to choose from if you opt for the Picnic Plush option and you may view the full menu via the Amex Experiences App (free to download) - do note that the actual RSVP will have to be done on the app as well:

• Picnic Delights by Masons

• Picnic Specialties by Hopscotch

• Picnic Classic by Masons (Vegan/Gluten Free)

• Picnic Signatures (Halal)

If you are not interested in the food, drinks and limited-edition Platinum mementos, you may opt for the Concert Culture at 5,000 Membership Rewards points - this will allow you to enjoy the livestream concert by an international artiste, as well as exclusive access to mobile games with exciting prizes to be won during the event.

At first glance, it does seem like the American Express Platinum af'FAIR 2020 last year offered more value for 20,000 Membership Rewards points - it came with a bottle of Ruinart Blanc de Blancs and a Bottle of Ruinart Rosé NV, with food delivered. However, in my opinion, it does seem worthwhile to participate in the American Express Platinum af'FAIR 2021 this year as there will be more prizes to be won during the event as well.
