The Standard Chartered Journey Credit Card was relaunched on 19 May 2023 to replace the X Card with a completely new set of benefits and acquisition offers. From now until 30 September 2023, apply for the Standard Chartered Journey Credit Card as an eligible new-to-card customer to receive up to 45,000 bonus miles (inclusive of 10,000 bonus miles with the payment of annual fee) with just a minimum spend of S$3,000 within 60 days of card approval.

The Standard Chartered Journey Credit Card can be categorised as a general spend credit card with an uncapped earn rate of 1.2/2.0 miles per dollar on local- and foreign-currency spend respectively, but it also offers the opportunity to earn 3.0 miles per dollar (capped at S$1,000 per statement period) on eligible online transactions made on Transportation, Food Delivery, as well as Groceries and Food Stores. In addition to the 2 miles per dollar earn rate on foreign currency spending, cardholders can also enjoy zero foreign currency fees in the months of November 2023 and December 2023, making it a great card to consider if you have travel planned for those months.
Get up to 45,000 Bonus Miles
Eligible new customers can receive up to 45,000 bonus miles with the Standard Chartered Journey Credit Card and this is a fantastic offer that I highly recommend that you take advantage of:
10,000 Bonus Miles from payment of Annual Fee (S$194.40) - You will not receive this if you opt for an annual fee waiver in the first year.
35,000 Bonus Miles from spending a minimum of S$3,000 within 60 days of card approval - this is essentially 11.7 additional miles per dollar on the first S$3,000 spent which is incredible! As a point of reference, you will only need 30,500 KrisFlyer miles to redeem a First Class Saver ticket (which gives you access to The Private Room at Singapore Changi Airport) from Singapore to Jakarta. If you wish to go somewhere a little bit further, a Saver redemption in Business Class from Singapore to Hong Kong, Taipei, and cities in South China will only require 34,000 KrisFlyer miles.
In order to be considered as an eligible new customer, you must not currently hold any Standard Chartered credit cards as a principal cardholder (even though holding a supplementary otherwise is fine) and you must not have cancelled one in the last 12 months from the date that the Bank receives your application for the Standard Chartered Journey Credit Card.
Earn up to 3 Miles per Dollar
The Standard Chartered Journey Credit Card offers 3 miles per dollar (capped at S$1,000 spent per statement period) on eligible online transactions made on Transportation, Food Delivery, as well as Groceries and Food Stores - these transactions are identified based on their merchant category codes. For all other eligible spending, the card offers an uncapped earn rate of 1.2 miles per dollar on transactions charged in SGD and 2.0 miles per dollar on non-SGD transactions.
Eligible Online Transactions: 7.5 Rewards Points per S$1 (3 Miles per Dollar)
Eligible SGD Spend: 3 Rewards Points per S$1 (1.2 Miles per Dollar)
Eligible Non-SGD Spend: 5 Rewards Points per S$1 (2 Miles per Dollar)
Zero Foreign Currency Fee in November and December 2023
As part of the Standard Chartered Journey Credit Card S$0 Foreign Transaction Fees Promotion (01 November 2023 to 31 December 2023), cardholders can enjoy zero foreign currency fees on all eligible transactions charged in a foreign currency other than SGD for two full months. As part of the promotion, cardholders will be entitled to a 3.5% cashback (with no cap) on all eligible foreign currency transactions made during the aforementioned period - they will also continue to earn 2 miles per dollar on these transactions. The 3.5% cashback awarded under the promotion for eligible foreign currency transactions made and posted between 01 November 2023 and 31 December 2023 will be credited by 29 February 2024.
November and December are typically peak travel months for Singapore residents (particularly for those with children) as they align with the end-of-year school breaks. If you do have vacations planned in November and December, you may choose to leverage on the zero foreign currency fee promotion to earn 2 miles per dollar on all eligible foreign-currency expenses.

Conclusion
The new customer sign-up bonus for the Standard Chartered Journey Credit Card is hard to pass up - getting 35,000 bonus miles with a minimum of S$3,000 spent within 60 days is a fantastic deal since you can also earn up to 3 miles per dollar on eligible online transactions (capped at S$1,000 per statement period) on top of that. While there are other credit cards in the market that offer more than 3 miles per dollar on eligible online transactions, these cards also come with their own set of intricacies and spending limits.

TRIBE Living Bangkok Sukhumvit 39 is a great value choice for budget-conscious travelers but its slightly longer walk from Phrom Phong BTS Station may make it less convenient compared to more accessible (but pricier) options in the area.
