The One Farrer Hotel & Spa is one of those little gems in Singapore that not everyone knows about. When the hotel opened last year, I was invited to check out the Skyline Studio in the exclusive Skyline Hotel Wing and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of product (as well as the five meal inclusions!). The One Farrer Hotel & Spa is hosting Shermay Lee's Cooking School Pop-up to present a series of cooking classes and a retail section at the beautiful Origins of Food Studio.
Award-winning cookbook author and renowned local culinary personality, Shermay Lee will conduct a series of cooking demonstrations (as well as hands-on sessions) for those with a penchant for learning with her team of highly-trained chefs. As part of the collaboration, Escape Restaurant & Lounge will also feature a selection of heritage cuisine cooked by Shermay Lee to delight diners with authentic Peranakan cuisine every first Saturday of the month from November 2015 to April 2016:
- 7 November 2015
- 5 December 2015
- 2 January 2016
- 6 February 2016
- 5 March 2016
- 2 April 2016
Available only for dinner (06:00PM to 10:30PM), this special dinner buffet will be priced at just S$60++ per person. All reservations should be made via the phone (6705 7828) or email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
The cooking series starts officially on 07 November 2015 with Shermay Lee’s “My Peranakan Grandma’s Cuisine” which will feature heirloom recipes like Udang Pedas Nanas, Ayam Pedas, Ngoh Hiang and Achar.
As part of the series, learn how to bake artisan breads from Chef Audrey Tan, the chief baker and owner of Le Bijoux. Those of you interested in pastries should not miss the classes by Chef Hidayat Cosnan, the executive pastry chef of an established local resort who has had prior experience at the Bistecca Tuscan Steakhouse, making authentic Italian breads and pastries for the restaurant.
Other classes include cake decorating and baking by Chef Naomi Lee; classic Asian cuisine and pastry by Chef Christopher Tan; Japanese home cooking and Japanese-French pastry by Chef Aki Watanabe and Chef Jean-Philippe Patruno.
