Members' Club 1880 to Officially Open on 02 December 2017 - Soft Launch on 08 November
Housed in the same building as the brand new InterContinental Singapore Robertson Quay (which officially opened slightly over two weeks ago), 1880 is a members-only club that is set to open on 02 December 2017. The club is designed to become a social enclave for individuals that are keen on spearheading positive change and to inspire conversations that will impact society in a positive way. Occupying the third level of the city's latest waterfront lifestyle destination, Quayside@Robertson Quay, 1880 will soft launch on 8 November 2017 and different parts of the space will gradually come online in phases.
1880 is the brainchild of entrepreneur Marc Nicholson, who grew up in a household where opinion and conversations were strongly encouraged. Collaborating with him on his journey is a host of extraordinary people and teams that include CEO Luke Jones, design house Timothy Oulton, developer RB Capital and bar consultancy Proof & Company. 1880 is named for the era that Robertson Quay was built. It is the antidote to the traditional members’ club, shunning homogeneity, while championing diversity, ingenuity and global citizenry. The four pillars of the club are membership, design, events and hospitality.
The first area of 1880 to open is BARDO - a co-working space that features a 9m-long hot desk fashioned from a reclaimed salvaged beam as well as and a pair of 2.5m-tall Spitfire aluminum-clad cylinders that double as phone booths. The remaining spaces that will open in consecutive order are:
- Multi-purpose room The Studio
- The private dining room
- Members’ Lounge
- Cafe-cum-bar The Double
- All-day-dining restaurant Leonie’s
- Wellness centre Mei
- Outdoor Terrace
There is a new Hyatt Place opening in Bangkok - Hyatt Place Bangkok Sukhumvit 1 (not to be confused with the Hyatt Place Bangkok Sukhumvit near Phrom Phong) - and it has already started to accept stay reservations from 13 January 2025.
