Complete List of New Hotels Opening in Singapore (2018) - The Shutterwhale

As far as the hotel industry is concerned, 2017 has been an exciting year with plenty of new hotels that has opened in Singapore over the last eleven months or so. Unfortunately, in the new couple of years ahead, this is expected to slow down even though we will probably be seeing a number of hotels going through refurbishments. The Conrad Centennial Singapore for example, is nearing the end of its refurbishment period and the new rooms are beautiful! This is my list of new hotels in Singapore that will be opening in 2018 (as well as some notable mentions for the future).

Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas has just announced that the group will be expanding its presence with its first two city hotels in Singapore - the Six Senses Duxton opens in April 2018 while the Six Senses Maxwell opens in July 2018.

Update (25 January 2018): Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas will be taking over the two properties previously planned for The Luxury Collection.

Update (30 November 2017): The Duxton Club will no longer become Singapore's first The Luxury Collection property. It will not be part of the Starwood Hotels & Resorts portfolio.

Slated to open in the first half of 2018, The Duxton Club, will be hotel owners, Harpreet Bedi and Satinder Garcha's second property here in Singapore - they also own The Vagabond Club at Syed Alwi Road. The Duxton House (with 50 rooms in eight three-storey buildings) is expected to open first in early 2018 and The Duxton Terrace (138 rooms across 14 buildings close-by) is planned for an opening in July 2018. There will be five restaurants and bars, as well as an outdoor swimming pool and members’ club.

2. Capri by Fraser, China Square Central

The second Capri by Fraser property is planned for Singapore and the 16-storey building is expected to be completed in 2018. This brand new property is expected to create a more vibrant retail, entertainment and hospitality destination that will further rejuvenate China Square Central (which in turn increases the rental income from enhanced footfall). The entire China Square Central will then be repositioned as an integrated development within the heritage area of the CBD.

After a series of monumental delays, Perennial Real Estate Holdings has finally appointed Kempinski Hotels S.A. to operate The Capitol Kempinski Hotel Singapore which is slated to open in September this year (the full range of service to follow in Q4). Housed in the restored Capitol Building and Stamford House, the property will offer 157 guest rooms and suites - it will also feature a leading international restaurant under the helm of a Michelin-starred chef

I debated putting The Patina, Capitol Singapore in and the reason is fairly simple - it was on both my 2016 and 2017 list of hotels to open in Singapore. This ultra-luxurious hotel that is housed in the iconic Capitol Building and Stamford House is once again slated to open in 2018 (fingers-crossed!). It will also feature Singapore's first saltwater relaxation pool alongside a wold-class art collection and the Patina 360° Concierge™ service where every Ambassador takes pride in being true hosts to guests, creating the perfect destination for today's discerning traveler. The Patina Capitol Singapore is owned by Perennial Real Estate Holdings (50%) and Chesham Properties (50%) which is an affiliate of private luxury developer Pontiac Land Group.

Everyone must have seen the Grand Park City Hall at some point - I stayed there once pre-refurbishment and did not find it particularly memorable. While the property is technically not closed during the refurbishment phases, travellers will be able to look forward to new rooms and lobby as well as a refreshed facade that brings this property to the right century. There is a pretty interesting video (it feels like a wedding video actually) of the new Grand Park City Hall that is posted online so feel free to check it out if it interests you.

As mentioned late last year, the Raffles Singapore has been undergoing some major restoration works since the start of 2017 and as part of the third phase of restoration, the hotel will be fully closed from mid-December. The grand re-opening of this legendary hotel is planned for the second half of 2018. Three new suite categories (Residence Suites, Promenade Suites and Studio Suites) will also be added to the Raffles Singapore upon its re-opening and refreshed dining concepts will be introduced.
