Singapore Airlines Continues IAP Partnership with American Express - Discounted Rates Extended until 31 December 2020!
Now that American Express has made International Airline Partner (IAP) rates available online for Centurion and Platinum members, I have been more inclined to book a revenue ticket in Business Class (so long it makes sense from a mileage-accrual standpoint). Booking an IAP rate for Singapore Airlines flights online will continue to give you 5X Membership Rewards points (this is been confirmed by American Express) which is great since you will get to enjoy 10-15% reduction in flight fares on average and still get approximately 1.95 miles per dollar. It now appears that the IAP partnership has been extended until the end of 2020!
When American Express first made IAP rates available online, I found some ridiculously cheap Business Class fares from Singapore to Tokyo on Singapore Airlines - it was 28% cheaper than the public rate! Looking at Sakura season next year, the Business Class fares via IAP is approximately 10% cheaper than the published rates on Singapore Airlines.
I have written about The Platinum Card from American Express on multiple occasions and it is important to recognise that this is a luxury lifestyle card (and not one that you can accrue miles very easily on). With that being said, you can still earn up to 7.81 miles per dollar at participating partners each year and if you do not already have this great card, signing-up using my referral link will give you an additional 40,000 Membership Rewards pointsafter spending S$5,000 within the first 3 months. If you plan your expenses very carefully, you can earn a total of 340,000 Membership Rewards points (equivalent to at least 212,500 miles) for the first S$20,000 spent upon card approval.
American Express has finally revealed information on The Platinum Card’s new statement credit offers which replaced the previous S$800 travel credits.
