New Status Match Requirements for Hilton Honors Diamond and Gold - Nights Instead of Stays
Hilton Honors is one of the most popular hotel loyalty programs around and having just Gold status can help you save plenty of money each year since it gets you complimentary breakfast at most full-service properties. In Asia-Pacific, this benefit typically translates into a full buffet breakfast so it is not uncommon to see Gold members being upgraded to the Executive floor from time to time. Members used to be able to get matched to Hilton Honors Diamond and Gold if they hold significant status in a competing program (e.g. Marriott Bonvoy) but starting immediately, members will only be matched to Hilton Honors Gold for 90 days and they will have to complete a fixed number of nights within the same period to keep the status up to 31 March 2021.
With the previous Hilton Honors status match offer, members used to be able to match to either Hilton Honors Diamond or Gold, depending on their status in the competing loyalty program. With the new changes however, all eligible members will get only Hilton Honors Gold for the trial period of 90 days and then consume the following number of nights to keep the status valid until 31 March 2021:
10 Nights in 90 Days for Hilton Honors Gold
18 Nights in 90 Days for Hilton Honors Diamond
Members were previously required to complete only 4 stays and 8 stays for Hilton Honors Gold and Diamond respectively but newly-matched members will now only have the option of completing this challenge and fast-track on a night-basis. If you are based in Asia-Pacific (or have a credit card issued here), you will be able to fast-track to Hilton Honors Gold in just 2 stays (or 4 nights if you prefer) with an eligible Visa Signature or Visa Infinite Card.
The Platinum Card from American Express also gives you guaranteed Hilton Honors Gold status for as long as you hold the card so you do not have to worry about re-qualifying each year. While The Platinum Card does come with a higher-than-average annual fee, the perks of this card are great and you can easily 'earn back' what you have paid for within months.
