Nyepi, otherwise known as the 'Day of Silence' falls on 25 March 2020 this year, according to the Saka Balinese calendar. This is a day of silence and inactivity across the island (the airport is also closed on this day) and this holiday is a time of purification and self-reflection, and it is commonly believed that, by ceasing all activity and light, evil spirits that descend upon Bali will believe it to be uninhabited and leave the island in peace for another year. Capella Ubud has launched a unique Silent Reflection Reboot experience, which offers guests the opportunity to experience this unique day of self-reflection, and includes several spirituality-enhancing activities, such as nocturnal meditation and a water purification ritual at Wos River Temple.
