American Express Reduces Spend Bonus on The American Express Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer Credit Card - Spend S$5,000, Get 13,000 Bonus Miles (New Customer)

Singapore Airlines has a number of co-branded credit cards with American Express but The American Express Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer Credit Card is the easiest one to get in terms of annual income requirement. If you are a first time applicant of any co-branded American Express Singapore Airlines Credit Card, you will be able to enjoy 13,000 bonus KrisFlyer Miles after spending S$5,000 in the first 3 months of card approval from 01 May 2020.

The welcome bonus of 5,000 KrisFlyer Miles is only applicable to first time applicants (you must not have held any American Express Singapore Airlines Credit Card previously) and it will be awarded after your first successful transaction on The American Express Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer Credit Card. Do note that if you are currently holding any other American Express-issued credit (or charge) cards but have not held any co-branded cards with Singapore Airlines previously, you will be eligible for this welcome bonus as well.

American Express has reduced the spend bonus on The American Express Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer Credit Card - previously, card members were able to earn up to 16,000 bonus KrisFlyer Miles by spending S$5,000 within the first 3 months of the card's approval and another S$5,000 in the following 3 months (i.e. months 4 to 6). Today, American Express has removed the second component of the spend bonus and new applicants will only be able to enjoy 8,000 bonus KrisFlyer Miles by spending S$5,000 in the first 3 months of card membership. If you are an eligible new customer, you will be able to earn up to 3.8 mpd on your first S$5,000 with the spend bonus: 

• Base Miles (from S$5,000 Spend): 6,000 Miles

• Welcome Bonus: 5,000 Miles

• Spend Bonus: 8,000 Miles

• Total: 19,000 Miles (3.8 mpd) 

Alternatively, if you are an eligible new customer who is planning to spend in a foreign (non-SGD) currency, it may be a good idea to wait until June 2020 (it still falls within the promotional period for the spend bonus) before making your purchases as The American Express Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer Credit Card awards 2 mpd on all eligible foreign-currency transactions in June and December:

• Base Miles (from S$5,000 FX Spend): 10,000 Miles

• Welcome Bonus: 5,000 Miles

• Spend Bonus: 8,000 Miles

• Total: 23,000 Miles (4.6 mpd) 

American Express has also removed the Supplementary Card Bonus for The American Express Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer Credit Card - card members used to enjoy 1,500 bonus KrisFlyer miles for each approved supplementary card (capped at two) but this bonus is no longer offered.
