Marriott Bonvoy Makes It Easier for Elite Members to Reach The Next Tier - Get Elite Night Credits

All Marriott Bonvoy members have received an elite status extension by a year, based on their 2019 activity. Today, it has been announced that Elite Night Credits will be deposited in late July to help members move into the next Elite tier quickly.

If you have achieved elite status in the Marriott Bonvoy last year, your status which was initially supposed to expire in February 2021 would have already been extended to February 2022 (giving you an additional year of elite status for 'free'). Do note that only Marriott Bonvoy members who have earned enough elite nights will be eligible for these bonus Elite Night Credits.

Depending on which elite status tier you have achieved in 2019, you will receive 50% of the annual elite night requirement in your account towards late July 2020 (up to 50 elite night credits). It is important to understand that this Elite Night Credit is supposed to help you reach the next tier quicker - your elite status has already been extended for a year.

I have managed to hit 50 nights in 2019 and therefore, I have re-qualified for Platinum Elite status in the Marriott Bonvoy for 2020 (the status is good through February 2021). Now in a normal situation, I would have been required to hit another 50 nights this year in order for my status to be re-qualify this year and have my status extended to February 2022. However, as mentioned earlier, Marriott Bonvoy has extended the expiry of elite statuses for eligible members to February 2022 (this means I do not need to hit any more nights this year to 're-qualify' for next year).

The deposit of elite night credits in July 2020 will help me to reach a higher tier in the Marriott Bonvoy program - since I managed to hit Platinum Elite status in 2019, I will be awarded 25 elite night credits, requiring only 50 more nights to hit Titanium Elite. If I do achieve 50 nights, the Titanium Elite status will be good through February 2022.

Members who earned Ambassador Elite Status in 2019 and have achieved 100 Elite Night Credits this year will be able to gift Platinum Elite status to a friend or a family member. This includes the one-time deposit of 50% of their tier's annual Elite Night Credit requirement (50 Elite Night Credits), which means current Ambassador Elite Members only need 50 more Elite Night Credits this year to receive this benefit. If you earned Ambassador Elite Status in 2020, you are not eligible for this benefit.
