The Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok is arguably the most luxurious hotel in the City of Angels. Celebrating her 140th birthday this year, the Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok (sometimes known as La Grande Dame) is also home to nine outstanding dining venues - each with its own unique charm. During my stay at this amazing property, I have also had the opportunity to try out the famous Afternoon Tea at one of Bangkok's most photographed location, the Author's Lounge.

I've stayed at the Mandarin Oriental, Singapore multiple times (always for leisure) and I have dined at the newly-refreshed Melt Cafe on several occasions but even then, I have not had the pleasure of checking out the afternoon tea selection at the Axis Bar and Lounge. In case you do not already know, the afternoon tea menu changes on a monthly basis and for the month of June 2016, diners will be able to indulge in a carefully-curated list of canapes that is anchored around the use of berries.

The Pan Pacific Singapore is one of my favourite hotels in Singapore for many reasons - the higher-tier rooms are beautiful and comparatively affordable (you can sometimes get a suite for $500), the GHA Black benefits are great, the food's always good and the service staff are always amazing. While the other restaurants (e.g. Hai Tien Lo, Keyaki and Edge) are consistently in the limelight for offering some of the best food around, the Atrium and Pacific Marketplace are often overshadowed by their better performing siblings. For instance, not many people actually know that the Pan Pacific Singapore offers TWO kinds of Afternoon Tea sets that you can choose from - English and Peranakan.
