UOB One Account to offer Higher Interest Rates from 01 August (up to 3.88% p.a.) but You Can Still Earn Less Interest - Here's Why!

I have compared the differences between the UOB One Account (which current advertises up to 3.33% p.a. interest rates) and the OCBC 360 Account a couple of years ago. Even with the changes that the OCBC 360 has introduced over the years, it is still one of my preferred savings account in Singapore since I can achieve up to 1.85% p.a. of interest (you can earn up to 3.05% p.a. interest if you insure or invest with OCBC), up to S$70,000 fairly easily. The UOB One Account will be introducing some changes from 01 August 2018 and they are quite lucrative (especially if you already use a UOB One credit card which gives you cash rebates) but it may not necessarily be convincing enough for me to make the switch.

OCBC to remove option to buy 500,000 VMs for S$10,000 for VOYAGE Card

Following the premature ending of 10X OCBC$ for mobile payments made using the OCBC Titanium Rewards card, OCBC has just announced that they will be removing the option for OCBC VOYAGE Cardholders to purchase 500,000 VOYAGE miles for S$10,000. The last day to take advantage of this offer is 31 August 2018 and following that, OCBC VOYAGE Cardholders will only be able to renew their VOYAGE Card by paying either S$488 or S$3,210 for 15,000 and 150,000 VOYAGE Miles respectively.

It goes without saying that the OCBC Titanium Rewards Card is one of my favourite credit cards in Singapore and it has earned its rightful place in my (digital) wallet since last year. While the card is supposed to offer 10X OCBC$ (which translates into 4 miles per dollar) on all mobile payments (e.g. Apple Pay) until the end of the year, I noticed yesterday that the benefit has been amended to end on 04 August 2018 instead.

It is no secret that the OCBC Titanium Rewards Card is one of the best credit cards in Singapore to hold - it gives you 4 miles per dollar on all eligible purchases made with the credit card and you can easily get it on contactless transactions as well (Citibank is offering 8 miles per dollar on Apple Pay transactions until 31 July 2018). Cardholders can now earn an additional 2% rebate on top of 10X OCBC$ for all eligible BEST Denki purchases.

OCBC Bank is currently running a limited time promotion with Emirates to offer 20X Rewards (equivalent to 8 miles per SGD) on all eligible flights booked via this specific landing page. This promotion is capped at S$1,000 (meaning to say you can only earn up to 8,000 bonus miles) and you will have to book it between 15-21 May 2018. The OCBC Titanium Rewards Card is on my list of credit cards to hold in 2018 and there is currently the opportunity to earn up to 6 miles per dollar by using this credit card on the Mileslife app from now until 30 June 2018. If you are not familiar with the Mileslife app, it basically rewards you with additional miles (on top of what you would typically earn on your credit card) for making payment via the app - this means to say that you can earn up to 11 miles per dollar on specific spends on the app.

Bonus 1% P.A. Interest with OCBC 360 Account - Extended to 30 September 2018

The OCBC 360 Account is one of my preferred saving accounts of choice since it gives up to 3.05% p.a. in bonus interest on up to S$70,000 of your account balance. It also gives an additional 1% p.a. on the first S$70,000 if your account balance is S$200,000 and above (but this is something you should ignore since there are better ways to invest your money). There is currently a promotion (which reminds me a little bit of the previous promotional mechanics) which offers an extra 1% p.a. interest on incremental balance based on the month on month average.
