Summary of Bonus Miles with Credit Card Sign-up

As most of us buck up for the miles game this year (remember you can easily earn more miles this year by just making slight changes to your spending habits), I wanted to summarise some credit card offers that give you bonus miles when you sign up and hit a minimum spend. If you do not already have one of these cards, perhaps it is a good time to check these out! If I have missed something out, please feel free to leave a comment below (or drop me an email privately) and I will be sure to update this list. If you are not an American Express customer yet, you are in luck! If you have plans to make a major purchase (e.g. car down payment or some wedding expenditure), check out The American Express® Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer Ascend Credit Card! If you do pay the annual fee, spending S$10,000 will give you 35,000 bonus KrisFlyer miles (which will be directly deposited into your KrisFlyer Account) and you will also get 5,000 bonus KrisFlyer miles as a welcome bonus. On top of the generous bonuses, you will also earn 1 KrisFlyer mile for every S$1.20 spent on this card. Spend a minimum of S$1,000 in a calendar month, and receive a bonus of 300 KrisFlyer miles* for every additional S$500 you spend in the same month, with no cap to what you can earn!

The DBS Altitude Visa Signature Card remains to be one of the best cards in the market if you are obsessed about hotels and travel (like me). In fact, it's great when you wish to keep your loyalty statuses as this card will give you 3 miles per S$1 when you spend on hotel and travel related websites (up to S$10,000 spend per month). Between now until 31 March 2016, apply for the DBS Altitude Card online and get 8,000 bonus miles when you spend at least S$500 consecutively for 2 months. Spending S$1,000 for 8,000 bonus miles isn't a bad deal after all! Make sure you try to spend this S$1,000 on hotel and travel related expenses online in order to max out this bonus.

The American Express® Rewards Card do not get enough attention. Spending S$1,500 in 3 months from the date of approval and then getting 24,000 Membership Rewards points is an amazing deal. You may choose to redeem your 24,000 Membership Rewards points on miles which will give you approximately 13,333 miles or if you like, you may also choose to redeem it for 30,000 Hilton HHonors Points instead (sufficient forthree nights at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Johor Bahru). It may be a good idea to ditch the card after you have milked the sign-up bonus though - the on-going spend accrual is pretty lackluster.
