The Grand Hyatt Singapore has unveiled an intriguing mix of snowskin mooncakes this year and personally, the one that stood out the most to me is the Matcha, Azuki Bean, Sake Truffle (with alcohol) as photographed above. Pairing the matcha-infused white lotus paste with azuki beans and a sake truffle sounds absolutely ingenious!

Another flavour to watch out for this year is the Black Sesame, Buddha's Hand Truffle Snowskin Mooncake that consists of a daring mix of flavours. The charcoal-coloured snowskin is made from a blend of fragrant black sesame seeds with a blend of the unique-looking Buddha's hand fruit (sometimes known as the fingered citron).

If you have been following me on Instagram, you would have already known that the season for mooncakes (i.e. Mid-Autumn Festival) is coming up really soon and in the spirit of good fun, I have compiled what I would like to call a Mooncake Price Index (even though if we were to be pedantic, it is inaccurate to term it as that) for 2017. What I have done is basically gone through the price lists of all the hotel mooncakes that I have tasted so far to find out what the average price (GST inclusive) per baked and snowskin mooncake is - I have included both normal-size and mini-size ones for the sake of completeness. Do note that when there are multiple prices for different flavours, the cheapest price is utilised in this calculation.
