SO Sofitel Auckland to become AccorHotels' 8th Property in CBD - opening in May 2018
It is no secret that the Sofitel Auckland Viaduct Harbour is my favourite hotel in Auckland but this may change with the opening of the SO Sofitel Auckland as well as the Park Hyatt Auckland later this year. The SO Sofitel Auckland is slated to open in May 2018 and when it does, it will become the eighth property by AccorHotels to open in Auckland's CBD.

The seven other AccorHotels properties that are located in Auckland's CBD are as follows:

- Hotel The Sebel Quay West Auckland
- Hotel Grand Mercure Auckland

- Hotel Sofitel Auckland Viaduct Harbour
As of this moment it is unclear how the SO Sofitel Auckland will turn out but it is to be located on 67 Customs Street which is directly opposite Britomart and a stone's throw away from the harbour.
