In order to get 75% bonus miles, I have to purchase at least 30,000 United Airlines MileagePlus Miles - these are typically priced at USD 35 per block of 1,000 but a 7.5% tax recovery fee will be levied upon it (making it approximately USD 37.63 per block of 1,000 miles). With the 75% bonus, the price of 1,000 miles goes down to USD 21.50 (inclusive of the tax recovery fee).

However, it is worth noting that the highest bonus that I have seen is 100% more miles so if you do not have immediate use of these United Airlines MileagePlus Miles, it might be a good idea to hold off for now and hope for something better in the near future. Just remember that the 175,000 mile annual limit applies and this includes bonus miles that have been purchased.
