The Perfect Status for Staycations - DISCOVERY Black

I have written about the DISCOVERY Loyalty Program by the Global Hotel Alliance (GHA) on multiple occasions. Personally, I have completed at least 30 stays at the Pan Pacific Singapore and the Pan Pacific Orchard in the last two years. Within Singapore, the DISCOVERY program is one of my personal favourites as it offers everything important for a perfect staycation - especially when you reach top-tier with the program after 30 eligible nights!

Hotel Review: Pan Pacific Singapore (Pacific Harbour Studio)

I spent the Christmas Eve of 2015 at the Pan Pacific Singapore (the Mandarin Oriental, Singapore in 2014 and the Hilton Singapore in 2013) as part of my personal tradition. Since I wanted to take full advantage of my expiring Black status with the DISCOVERY Loyalty status then, I deliberately booked the Pacific Club room and enjoyed a two category upgrade (as per Black benefits) into the Pacific Harbour Studio (one that I have been dying to check out!) for Christmas Eve.

Afternoon Tea at the Pan Pacific Singapore

The Pan Pacific Singapore is one of my favourite hotels in Singapore for many reasons - the higher-tier rooms are beautiful and comparatively affordable (you can sometimes get a suite for $500), the GHA Black benefits are great, the food's always good and the service staff are always amazing. While the other restaurants (e.g. Hai Tien Lo, Keyaki and Edge) are consistently in the limelight for offering some of the best food around, the Atrium and Pacific Marketplace are often overshadowed by their better performing siblings. For instance, not many people actually know that the Pan Pacific Singapore offers TWO kinds of Afternoon Tea sets that you can choose from - English and Peranakan.

Chinese New Year (2016) at Hai Tien Lo (Pan Pacific Singapore)

Hai Tien Lo in the Pan Pacific Singapore remains to be one of my favourite Chinese restaurants in Singapore. The food's good, the staff is always amazing and honestly, it has the perfect balance between price and quality. For the upcoming Lunar New Year (2016) ahead, Chef Lai Tong Ping has worked together with his team of culinary chefs to create a special menu (set and a la carte) for your indulgence.
