Air New Zealand analyses Facial Expressions to create Personalised Recommendations for Travellers to Queensland
In partnership with the Tourism & Events Queensland, Air New Zealand has launched a website where a specially-designed software will monitor a range of visual cues that range from eye, mouth and other facial movements and expressions to create a personalised recommendation to Queensland, Australia.

By showing travellers a number of diverse and exciting Queensland experiences, the software will monitor the facial expressions of viewers to come up with a tailored itinerary that will showcase what Queensland has to offer. Those who watch the video can also go in the draw to win a Great Barrier Reef experience with return ‘The Works’ airfares for two people from any Air New Zealand domestic airport to Cairns, ground transfers, three nights resort accommodation and a four night Great Barrier Reef cruise.
“Using facial recognition technology in this way is a first for Air New Zealand and is an exciting way for us to engage with our customers and show them some Queensland experiences that they may not have previously considered.”
