New Marriott Bonvoy Global Promotion (Register Now!) - 2,000 Bonus Points with Elevated Earnings (17 March to 14 June 2020)
Back in February 2020, I suspected that Marriott Bonvoy would unveil a new global promotion by the end of the month but unfortunately, there were no active promotions (apart from a targeted one which I managed to take advantage of) until now. Marriott Bonvoy has just announced a brand new Global Promotion (that means any member is eligible to register for this!) which offers 2,000 bonus points for each stay starting with their second stay between 17 March 2020 and 14 June 2020.

As usual, you will have to register for this offer (and I highly recommend that you do it now before you forget) to take advantage of it. Obviously, getting just 2,000 bonus points with each stay, from your second stay, is not an exceptional - it does not reward long-staying hotel guests! However, if you do plenty of weekend staycations (and hotel rates have gone down quite a bit in this part of the world), this may be worthwhile since you get the same 2,000 bonus points regardless of stay duration.

I am personally not psyched about this promotion since I do have a couple of longer-stays planned for the months ahead. If you are interested in raking up as many points as possible, do note that some hotels have started offering a 5,000 bonus points room package in response to lower occupancy resulting from the spread of the COVID-19 virus. If you are planning to stay in a Ritz-Carlton or St. Regis property, you may find booking the American Express FHR Rate an attractive option (especially on one-night stays) since it typically comes with USD 100 of property credit and you will be able to get 2,000 bonus points from your second stay with the new Marriott Bonvoy Global Promotion.
