American Express has been extremely aggressive in capturing market share here in Singapore - they have unveiled the brand new metal Platinum Charge Card late last year and have continued to roll out amazing deals like the latest Hilton one which gives you S$200 back for spending S$500 (40% cashback!). Today, new-to-American-Express customers can get the American Express Platinum Credit Card for free - this card offers great discounts like 50% off dining discounts as well as complimentary free drinks at some of Asia's best bars.
If you are an existing American Express customer, you may also choose to sign-up for the Platinum Credit Card) to enjoy these benefits. While you will not be getting a free first year fee waiver, you will be able to get an additional 15,000 bonus Membership Rewards Points (can be converted into 8,333 miles) when you sign-up using my referral link - all you have to do is to spend at least S$50 within the first 3 months upon card approval. The S$321 annual fee will also give you a free 1-night stay at the newly-refurbished Swissotel The Stamford Singapore (read my review HERE!) so it's not that bad after all. If you are in need of a new suitcase, you will also receive a Samsonite Sigma 76cm Expandable Spinner (worth S$600) when you spend $4,500 within the first 3 months of card approval.
I recently booked the IAP Rate for Singapore Airlines in Business Class online and did not get 5X MR Points awarded - these have now been adjusted retrospectively but is this just a one-off gesture?
OCBC has just sent out an SMS/EDM to selected OCBC VOYAGE Cardholders to enjoy an accelerated earn rate on foreign currency transactions made between 24 May 2019 and 30 June 2019.
Signing-up for a Citibank credit card has never gotten more rewarding - the first 15 applicants from 21-24 May 2019 each day (this includes existing Citibank customers!) will receive S$500 cash on top of the usual bank welcome offers. Make sure you mark your calendar for 9am from 21-24 May 2019 to have a greater chance at snagging up that $500 cash!
As you may already know, Mastercard has partnered with the Land Transport Authority (LTA) and TransitLink to launch Mastercard contactless payments on buses and trains. Commuters are currently able to use their credit and debit card (with Mastercard contactless function) to make fare payments - you will not need to top-up your card since transactions will be processed, accumulated and charged to your relevant credit or debit card. From 06 June 2019, Visa cards will also be supported and in case you are wondering, mobile wallets (e.g. Apple Pay) are supported as well.
A couple of weeks ago, I wrote about the opportunity to earn some extra cash and vouchers from SingSaver's Battle of Cards campaign. Now, SingSaver has opened up all three battles (Travel, Cash Back and Rewards) on the Battle of Cards campaign so you can start earning those additional voucher and cash rewards until 09 June 2019. If you are afraid of missing out, SingSaver offers the same rewards that banks give but on top of that, they typically add-on a little cash or voucher incentive. You can also earn up to S$150 cash plus a chance to win 50,000 KrisFlyer Miles when you participate in this campaign!
SingSaver is currently running a Battle of Cards campaign and it spans across three categories and periods. Each 'battle' (in the field of Travel, Cashback and Rewards) comes with four credit cards that you can choose from and most of these credit cards come with a SingSaver exclusive gift (this means to say that you will not get this bonus if you apply for the card elsewhere). From now until 12 May 2019, apply for at least one of the cards in the travel battle to stand a chance to win S$50 (if you pick the most popular credit card) and 50,000 KrisFlyer Miles (grand prize).
OCBC has just unveiled a brand new payment facility for OCBC VOYAGE Card Members - you will now be able to apply for the facility (which allows you to pay for anything that requires a bank account deposit instead of credit card payment) and earn 1 VOYAGE Miles per S$1. Now the only catch is this - you will have to pay a 1.90% or 1.95% admin fee depending on whether your transaction amount is S$150,100 and above or between S$10,000 - S$150,000.
The new KrisFlyer UOB Credit Card looks great but the only caveat is this - all the 'Accelerated Miles' will only post AFTER your card's membership year. This means to say that you will only expect to see your bonus miles next year!
Singapore Airlines and UOB have just announced a brand new credit card which offers an attractive earn rate of 3 KrisFlyer miles per dollar on Singapore Airlines (including SilkAir and Scoot) expenses, online shopping, transport and most importantly, dining. The brand new KrisFlyer UOB Credit Card is now available for application online and you can do it very quickly (takes just a minute!) if you have internet banking set up with UOB.
If you are looking for a new credit card and would like to snag up a free Nintendo Switch while you are doing it, tomorrow is a great day to sign-up with SingSaver (with a few caveats you should take note of).
